I've recently found out about Roy Maayan, a ceramicist working in Israel who has started to subvert the use of glazes. He came up with a formula that enables the glaze to have it's own body; it doesn't need to be applied to clay. It's the same sort of idea as me wanting to use paint as a 3D material in it's own right.
