In the summer, I went camping in Paris and managed to visit all of the city's major galleries (post to follow). Inspired by Monet's quite dry surface brushwork I saw used on his 'Nympheas' in the Musee l'Orangerie, I decided to experiment with this technique myself.

 I did a quick painting after Van Gogh's 'Sorrow'. I thought it would also be a good opportunity to try painting on coloured grounds so I used diluted brown ink to compliment skin tones. I'm really pleased with the overall look...
